Tesco launch national campaign at Mandeville

Mandeville was buzzing with excitement to have been chosen as the site for the launch of Tesco's new national campaign.....

Tesco teamed up with our pupils for the launch of their  Tesco Fruit & Veg for Schools,  a new £4 million scheme that will give thousands of young people across the UK fruit and  vegetables every day at school.

As part of the national launch of this scheme, Mandeville Primary School pupils took the starring role in a series of video clips filmed in the school,  that will be shared with millions of followers of Tesco’s social medi, with the campaign launch  covered in local and national press.

The children were joined by author and chef, Poppy O’Toole – who has over 4 million followers on TikTok where she's known as 'Poppy Cooks' – to try out a range of exciting recipes. Poppy also led our pupils through a series of fun fruit and veg-related activities, such as a blindfolded fruit and veg tasting session.

Tesco Fruit & Veg for Schools has been developed in partnership with the British Nutrition Foundation and will provide funding for pupils in 400 schools across the UK to receive at least one piece of fruit or veg a day, giving their diets a healthy and nutritious boost.

Schools will receive around 16 million pieces of fruit and vegetables in total, the equivalent of 110 portions per child on average over a school year.  Mandeville will be taking part in Tesco Fruit & Veg for Schools from October 2024.

Marc Thompson, Head Teacher was also interviewed by the film crew  and spoke about the school's strong healthy eating ethos. He  said: “We are  delighted to be involved in the Tesco Fruit & Veg for Schools  campaign. We are committed to providing our children with delicious, healthy, nutritious meals and are grateful for Tesco's support with this- every little helps!”

Poppy O 'Toole praised the school saying "This is an amazing school! Looking at the menu,  I can see the children have had great, healthy, nutritious meals every day." The film crew was equally impressed, saying it was a delight to film at Mandeville and commending the children for their enthusiasm.
